Spring Fling Challenge, Week 3

I lost another 1 3/4 pounds!  Yep, this is me, doing my happy dance. :)  So I wanted to lose 2lb a week, but 3.25 in two weeks is still good, especially when wrestling with PCOS makes it so hard.  I will take it. :)  I do have a confession though... I had to use the note pad I wrote my measurements down on for something, and now I can't find it! :(  But I'm so glad with the weightloss that I'm not too disappointed, but I did promise you my measurement changes this week... and I can't give them to you, sorry.  Thank goodness I've been doing my weight on the wii and it records it for me!

SO, here is my honesty journal.  We tweaked some things, and one day I was told that all the house work I did was my work out, and not to do more... so here is what my week looked like.

Monday: Did all my squats, crunches, physio, but had a migraine and could not do my couch to 5k.
Tuesday: Did my couch to 5k from the day before, my reverse crunches and walked 10 min
Wednesday: Cleaned for a couple of hours, did 30 min of jogging on the spot.  DID NOT want to exercise this day... sadly the Duke had to issue it an order. :(  Sorry ladies. :(
Thursday: 23 min of stepping on the wii fit plus, cleaned for two hours, did some dancing (alone, in my livingroom and kitchen while doing some stuff around the house) for probably 20 min, made sure to work my hips, abs and arms a lot. :)
Friday: Washed and hung on the line 4 loads of laundry, then later brought them in and folded, also tidied the house and spring cleaned one area of a room.  I was told that was enough, the Duke doesn't want me to hurt my shoulder more, especially with how much I have to reach to get the clothes on and off the line.
Saturday: 20 min of stepping on the wii fit plus, also 20 min of yoga on the wii fit plus
Sunday: 6min box, 10min steppin, 11min hola hoop, all on the wii fit plus + 10min walk

As you can see, on the weekend I switched to the wii fit plus.  And I may be switching to that we think.  The reason is that I haven't been building up a sweat while jogging, but I do pretty quickly on the wii fit.  Because my shoulder is starting to get better, but acting up if I use it too much, I'm not allowed to attempt the vidoes again at this point.. :(  Also, with the wii fit, I was way behind a few days ago on the weight loss, and then the last two days is when most of it came off.  So that is another reason we are thinking of me staying with the wii fit for now.  I think I'll try to keep the squats and crunches though on top.  The other great thing about the wii fit is that it records what I did for exercise, which is great.   (No, I have not been paid to brag about the wii fit) ;)

This week we also started, a few days ago, at having a large salad before supper every night.  I HATE salad.  Sorry, I don't think I said that loudly enough.  I HATE salads. :(  Sometimes I can dress them up nice, and make them taste good, they still upset my stomach.  I don't know if I've ever admitted, but my stomach does not like veggies.  I get nauseated, crampy, gassy, and just want to lie down.  But... they are good for you... so, we will keep eating them.  I do eat some veggies, but probably only 2 servings a day compared to the 4-7 you're supposed to have.  We also have decided for the Duke and I, that no junk food will enter the house except on Saturdays, and then, only a small portion as a snack for that day only.  If what we want cannot be bought in a smaller form, then it is saved for the next Saturday, and NOT to be eaten before.

I am not going to change our diet much more than this for this coming week.  I don't want to make overwhelming changes.

So, my question is, how are you all doing with your Spring Fling Challenges?   Have you had to make adjustments that work better for you than you thought at the beginning?  Are you struggling and need some encouragement and cheering?  Have you fallen off the bandwagon but want motivation to get back on?  I'd love to support you in any way I can.  :)  Thank you to all of you who have been supporting me.  :)

  1. You're doing great! Even though I haven't done it in a long time, wii fit is pretty awesome! I like doing it with my kids.
I had a rough week, but I've started this week off good. So here's hoping! (I did lose 2 pounds when I weighed in on Wednesday, but that's because I fasted for 2 days because of a doc appointment. I thought the appointment was Monday so I fasted. Nope it was Tuesday so I fasted again and he didn't even do a blood draw. However I'm thinking of not weighing in this week because I'm sure I've gained it back :/)

    1. st, the wii fit is so much fun. :) I'm glad you have fun memories of it as well. :) Actually, if you can lose weight on a fast, that is good. :) It means your metabolism is good. Well, I look at weighing myself this way. Yes, I might have gained, and that kind of sucks, but then I'll know that I lost it again. Where, if I don't weigh myself, next time I might way the same and get discouraged, but I might have gained 5lb in the mean time and lost it again. :) Just in case you want motivation to jump on those scales. ;)

  2. Congrats on losing!

I don't have a challenge thingy per say but...

I got sick and lost weight and then gained it back without gaining back the muscle I lost. I am working on turning it into muscle again. I love to run but cant because of my health. I personally love veggies but my food allergies are progressing so now I have about 30 things I cannot eat but maybe 10 of those are okay if cooked. Trying to keep weight down when you can't eat fruits and veggies is mega hard.

None the less.. keep up the good work. : )

    1. Oh, it can be so hard when there are things you can't eat. :( Are you able to have protiens? I find if I can't eat a lot of veggies (which today I can't because last night my body had enough, so I'll have to avoid them for two days) I eat dairy and meat. I find it really helps. For me, it's grain. I have to try to have only one serving a day. I can still have carbs, just low grain. I hope you do well on turning your muscles into shape. :)

    1. Thank you, Callie, that is what I'm hoping for. Having to be kept accountable to you all really helps. :) And being the initiator in asking everyone to join in, really makes me know I can't quit! :) So that really helps me keep going when I would rather give in. You guys are all so awesome to have my back. :)

    1. Thank you, Kenzie, :) Well, I did have a good strong schedule, and then it kind of FLEW out the window. LOL But what we are doing is tweaking it to what actually works for me. I had some ideals that just aren't working, so we've adjusted to what we feel will best help me get fit, and lose weight. :)

    1. Oh Bea, you just made my day! :) I love you all out there in blogland, but thought there was something wrong with me a couple months ago when during a meme you all admitted to loving salads. Bea, you're my kind of woman. :) And thank you for happy dancing with me, now I don't feel so awkward doing it alone. ;)

    1. Missy, hanging my head for you too, for totally different reasons! :) Garden work, did you know that working in the garden counts as half workout? So for every 40 minutes you garden, it counts as 20 minutes of work out? And, house work, kids (chasing after them, preparing meals, bending over picking up after them), looking after dog (walks, picking up poop, playing fetch) yeah... I see lazy in there... NOT! :) Missy, don't forget all you do do. :) And thank you... I'm starting to be proud of me too, an odd, and unknown feeling... I like it. :) {If my head gets to big, promise to shoot me?}

  8. Congratulations of the weight loss Es May!

You may have had to change your plan a little but the changes seem to be working well and you are doing great. Keep up the good work! I'm cheering you on :)

    1. Thank you, Roz, and for understanding about the changes. :) I think exercise is a lot like DD, you start out with a plan, and then put on the reality glasses a few weeks in to realize things need to change for the better. :) And thank you for the cheers, I need the motivation! :)

    1. I am so glad to hear you took it easy when you weren't feeling well. I'm learning that we need to rest on those days. I did that on Monday, and I wanted to regret it, but in all honesty it was for the best. The great thing is that you're going to try today if you are up to it. :) It's the not quitting that matters. :) And I am proud of you too, and thank you. :)

  10. Es May, I used to be Vegan. Now I am just getting back into eating power foods and not junky stuff. I have read how some people can't handle raw veggies because of stomach pain. I will admit, my tummy reacts to a big salad too.*I will proudly admit Beano was a friend of mine when I was vegan.* Do you think a good smoothie mix may help get the veggie love without the rawness? I need to do some research on tasty alternatives...:)

Please feel free to leave any comments, but I do ask you to be kind. We go into this with eyes wide open after months of prayer, and a peace in our hearts that this is the right choice before God for our marriage. I am open to questions from those who wonder why we made this choice, but I would ask for no personal attacks. Thank you. :)
