The Duke Steps Up

So.... the click that happened yesterday that I wrote about?  Happened fast!  Last night I was told a few times to do different things.  And then today I was told during maintenance what to make for supper.

Now, to tell you what a MONUMENTAL big thing this is, I can never, and I mean never, get my husband to tell me what it is that he wants for supper.  He won't even usually tell me if he likes a meal so I know to make it again or not.  I get a thank you every time I cook, and I am so thankful for that, but I'd also like to know what he likes.  Well, today he told me.  And not just a general idea, but right down to the veggies he wanted to eat with it.  I felt so submissive while making it!

Also, last night I didn't want to take any more decongestant, I just felt cruddy, and wanted no more medicine pumped into me.  But the Duke?  He'd have none of it.  I was taking the decongestant whether I liked it or not.  My head almost snapped in surprise.  Say what?  I got all nervous.  This is what I wanted, why was I all the sudden shaky?  I knew I still wanted it, but couldn't believe how nervous I was.

I told him today after maintenance that I guess he's found his HOH hat.  He said he didn't know there was such a thing and wanted one! ;)  I told him they were just something we said as a metaphor, but that if he'd really like one, I'd find a way to make him one. :)

You know, I think it's probably weird that I call him "the" Duke.  But I've realized something.  Whenever I try to just say "Duke", I feel like I'm not giving him the respect that he deserves.  I feel that it just turns into an every day name, and not a title.  By calling him the Duke, I am giving him respect, I am honouring him.  So, it will always be the Duke since I just can't call him Duke.

Oh, and if you look above, there is a change in my title bar. :)  I got to thinking about one of the questions we were asked during March's question month.  It was what we'd want next as an implement.  I don't know that we'll want anything more than what we already have.  But if we did, I'd want something like the paddle we already got from Blondie's with some etching in it, if I could find a place to get it etched that is.  And what I have above is a lot like I'd like it to look like. :)  The Duke laughed and loved it when he saw it, and wants me to keep it up. :)

HAPPY EASTER everyone. :)

  1. You know one of the things that told me Bucko had found his hat was that he started telling me what he wanted for dinner. I enjoy making what he likes, so I completely get it. Just be careful. Once they find that hat they don't like to take it off. :D I'm glad you are in such a good place, girl!

    Hugs,

  2. I know the feeling of not knowing what he likes to eat very well. H used to never tell me if he liked something or not. He learnt at boarding school to chew, swallow, don't taste. It took me over 2 years to get him to finally open up about what he does and doesn't like.

    1. Hmm, now I wonder if the Duke's mother did that to him. I'll have to ask him. Wow, there are more men out there who don't say what they like to eat than I would have thought of. I really thought mine was the only one because the other men I know in real life are very opinionated about their food. I am glad that he'll now admit to you what he likes. :)

    1. At first I wasn't sure why you'd be sending me a link, as usually only spam messages do, but then I realized you were giving me meal ideas for the Duke. Yep, I can be THAT slow sometimes. :) Thank you so much for sharing, I always love finding new recipes. :)

  4. Goodness Es May, he really has found his HoH hat! Be very careful, once it's on, the never want to take it off! Seriously, Im so happy for you. You seem to be in a great place.

I love the paddle btw and if you do make an HoH hat, perhaps you could turn it into a little business. I'm sure other HoH's would want one too!

Happy Easter to you and the Duke. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

    1. See, now you and TL Bucko really should have sent out flyers to warn me before hand! LOL They never want to take it off???? Okay, literal slight panic here. LOL I'll get over it. It is a good place to be in, he's been so great, so confident, it's like someone came in and took him over... hmmm, need to watch Men in Black again, ;). Glad you like the paddle, I JUST had to do it. lol Hope you have a wonderful weekend too. :)

    1. LOL, yes, you can call him Duke, just I can't. He doesn't care either way what I call him, Duke or the Duke, but to me it makes all the difference in my head. ;) Er, correct that, just asked him, and he says since it makes a difference in my head, he DOES want me to call him THE DUKE. ;)

    1. Oh Bob, don't go and jinx this on me! LOL :) I have only had one punishment spanking so far, and it was way less severe than my maintenance one. I won't lie, this is the one thing that has me worried about him stepping up... I have no idea what a real punishment spanking is going to look like... *GULP*

  10. Hello, Tm will on rare occasions if he really doesn't like something let me know but otherwise it's "I'll eat it" or some response like that.

I usually respond with something like.. "Yes I understand but do you like ____ ?"

Sometimes he will admit to liking or not really liking something but for the most part he "will eat it."

    1. That can be frustrating, can't it? I know from my own experience of five years. There was a while where I just did take out most nights just so that he'd have to pick what he wanted. I just had no more drive. But now I cook at home again most nights. We probably eat out a couple times a month now.

Please feel free to leave any comments, but I do ask you to be kind. We go into this with eyes wide open after months of prayer, and a peace in our hearts that this is the right choice before God for our marriage. I am open to questions from those who wonder why we made this choice, but I would ask for no personal attacks. Thank you. :)
